On December 13th, 2020, a new face of Accra Fashion Week was discovered and she goes by the name of Yasmine Djokotoe. Amongst a list of 7 finalists that were filtered from 52 contestants, Yasmine joined two other contestants, Juliet and Cherise when the top three were called, and shortly after was announced the winner.
As Accra Fashion Week 2020/21 Summer Harmattan went virtual this year due to coronavirus precautions, her announcement was made amongst a small invited group of prestigious guests who witnessed her victory but rest assured she would be a household name before the term is over.
The 7 finalists were seen modeling in clothes by Fundivas Exclusive, FNEtia Accessories, Sheila’s Gallery, and swimwear by FashionGHANA.com. The final decision was made from a fusion of corroboration between two designers, Clavon Leonard, Franca of FNEtia accessory, and Face of AFWk coordinator, Titus.
Yasmine marks the 5th winner of the Face Of AFWk who took over her predecessor, Winnifred Esinam, and will soon be groomed as a model ahead of her public appearances on photoshoots and runway. According to the organizers, they were torn between the final three but believed that Yasmine has a lot to show and is more than capable to go international.
Face of Accra Fashion Week is currently Ghana’s most prestigious model competition, creating a major platform for new faces. Organizers of Accra Fashion Week will not be holding the event twice a year in 2021 as they look forward to leveraging the event into a much bigger and successful edition to be held in December. At that juncture is where Yasmine would meet her successor.
