The artist Yaw Tog who is part of the growing Kumerica trend, new nickname for Kumasi, just managed to bag himself a musical feature with one of UK’s leading grime artist Stormzy. WHO IS STORMZY Stormzy officially known as Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr., is a British rapper, singer and songwriter. In 2014, he gained attention on the UK underground music scene through his Wicked Skengman series of freestyles over classic grime beats. Last Year Was MzVee Christie Brown Presents The Campaign Images For Her CBResort 2022 Collection Stormzy’s “Shut Up”, which was initially released as a freestyle on YouTube, became popular and peaked at number eight on the UK Singles Chart after he launched a campaign to reach Christmas number one. Stormzy won Best Grime Act at the 2014 and 2015 MOBO Awards and was named as an artist to look out for in the BBC’s Sound of 2015 list. His debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer (2017), was the first grime album to reach number one on the UK Albums Chart and won British Album of the Year at the 2018 Brit Awards. Stormzy’s whose network is estimated at $20million, and origins are in Ghana visited the country for the end-of-year festivities, where he celebrated with other foreign celebrities. Stormzy Features on Yaw Tog’s ‘Sore’ Remix But jamming to western music and watching fireworks was not all he came to do. He also decided to shoot a video to a remix of Yaw Tog’s video ‘SORE’ which means rise in english. Prior to the video shoot Ghanaian-British rapper, Stormzy visited Madhya Palace in Kumasi this week. The palace is the seat of the Asantehene of Asanteman, as well as his official residence. He was joined by Kwesi Arthur, Yaw Tog, and members of his team. The visit preceded the shooting of the official video for ‘SORE’ remix. ‘Sore’ comes off as a drill track, hence, with Stormzy being highly respected as one of the kings of this genre of music in the world currently, fans have been excited to see him working together with the young Ghanaian talent. According to reports, Kwesi Arthur has also been featured on the yet to be released ‘Sore’ remix, as such, he was spotted in Kumasi with Yaw Tog and Stormzy as they film the official visuals for the song. The video has nothing but shirtless guys in it, and if you recall we queried this with Kwesi Arthur earlier last year.
