Bikini photos and sexy dance videos might soon be a thing of the past if Tanzania’s government has its way. A number of artists have now been banned from posting their content.
The Music regulatory board of Tanzania has said that artists found posting nude pictures will not be allowed in the music industry for a period of six months. The board also said that the video vixens would also need to be vetted before being allowed on social media.
A few of this video vixens have already been summoned by the regulatory board. Pretty Kind also known as Susan Micheal Sonchoka, Amber Lulu, Gigy money have been summoned to appear before the Music Regulatory board to explain their acts.
Artist Pretty Kind has already been banned by the music regulatory board from doing music and posting on social media. Although some parts of the world think the government is getting to involved with their lives, many in Tanzania feel it needs to take even further action.
Julieth Kulangwa, an assistant editor at Tanzania’s Mwananchi newspaper, thinks the government should go even further and censor content showing international celebrities on Tanzanian TV and online channels. “You ban our local artists, but Rihanna and the like are there,” she says. What especially concerns her is the nudity, which already includes women in underwear or bikinis, being shown on TV before 11 p.m., when children could still be watching.
