Wizkid was the talk of the town a few days ago after the release of his ‘Essence’ remix with featured Justin Beiber. The song was released on 30 October 2020 as the 11th track on his studio album, ‘Made in Lagos’.

It featured Nigerian singer Tems, who wrote the song alongside Wizkid. The music video was released on 9 April 2021, shot in Accra, Ghana. “Essence” is the first Nigerian song in history to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Global 200. – Wikipedia

Wizkid Chose Ghana

Shooting his video in Ghana was not a random act of choice, Wizkid has actually chosen Ghana as his new home and is often seen at various celebrity gatherings and clubs. So it is no mystery he was blessed with the opportunity to shoot with one of Ghana’s most renowned photographers Apagnawen Annankra, popularly known as Apag Studios.

Apagnawen Annankra

Apagnawen Annankra is the CEO of Apag Studios which offers premium photography and videography services, most commonly in commercials, documentaries and weddings. Apag’s interest in photography began after the passing away of his father. He was then asked to prepare a slideshow for his wake and that is when he discovered his talent.

The shoot sees Wizkid in stunning menswear outfits are some of Ghana’s most popular tourist sites like the James Town lighthouse and the National Theatre. The image was shot for Lion King Magazine.
