Ghana Celebrity Watch
Noella Wiyaala was born on December 22, 1986, is Ghanaian Afro-pop singer-songwriter who sings in her native language Sissala and Waala dialects and English, often combining all three languages within her songs.
She has always maintained a flamboyant Afrocentric fun persona in public, but for the first time, her international audience alongside her spectators in Ghana witnessed the singer furious with a hot a steamy message for the bloggers, pundits, and press in Ghana.
Noella who founnd her popularity outside of Ghana making alternative/world music in her local language similar seemed to have struck fame with more foreign nations than in Ghana. There has a been a culture of Ghanaian press mainly following controversial artists, degradation, and rivalry within the music industry. A process that has launched a lot of musicians in Ghana, and a path that Noella Wiyaala has avoided.
This can be very tedious for many of the actually talented artists in Ghana such as Noella Wiyaala, Cina Soul, Efe Keyz, Efya, and more who are usually exempt from the Ghanaian press.
Yesterday, Wiyaala reacted to a comment made on air by Arnold Asamoah Baidoo Mr. Asamoah-Baidoo made a comment whilst disagreeing with music producer JMJ’s assertion that the female music scene is virtually dead after the exit of Kaakie, Ebony and MzVee.
The renowned music producer had been quoted to have said that “We can hardly see any female in that same light as them (MzVee, Kaakie & Ebony). Shouts to Wiyaala who is doing well out the, she could be an exception but the rest are still not there yet for me.”
Although Asamoah-Baidoo acknowledged the success chalked by Wiyaala in the music industry, he mentioned that JMJ’s comparison of Wiyaala’s progress with other Ghanaian female artistes is weak because she focuses on the international market.
This infuriated Wiyaala who boldly took to her instagram to throw shots back at Arnold. In her video she requested that they keep her name out of their discussiona claiming if you feel the industry is lacking female talent due to “Kaakie, MzVee, and Ebony not doing music anymore.” “You can call them back, can’t you? Call them, call them to come and do music,”
She also warned that she’s not idiot and would not stoop low to do “foolish things” just to win artiste of the year.”I am not an artiste of the year kind of musician. I am an artiste forever. Even if I die, you will still hear my music,” Wiyalla cried out.
