It consists of micro-shorts, cowhide cargo pants, basketball tunics, medieval tabards, fur-lined wraparound skirts, and bibbed vests. The brand has been in business for roughly 3 years now and has been consistent with breaking boundaries in gender-neutral styles. “PALMWINE IceCREAM stands for all the things that we are told, or made to believe, should not coexist with each other,” the British-Ghanaian designer says. According to the designer, “It’s a call to DREAM, to breathe new life into the tired, the heavy, the wasteland – to transform derelict beauty.” Showcased in the husk of an old building in Accra, the collection (titled Mii La) was made in conjunction with Muslim artisans in Tamale – the capital city of Ghana’s northern region – who revamp animal hides into prayer mats, drums, and talismans for Eid. The vast majority of the collection has been repurposed from deadstock denim, upcycled leathers, and old car tires. “Reconstruct, Re-use and Reduce”, Kubi says. “Why not find a way to create new from the old, to bring life to clothes that have died, as a conscious effort to reduce waste? The collection is the antithesis of expiration. It is delicately dramatic, a celebration of life and a celebration of Ghanaian traditions.” More Articles You Would Love Latest Daily Jewellery To Keep You In Style Runway Ghana 2017 Model Competition Set To Take Place In Tema See the lookbook below shot by Jude Lartey Original Story: Dazed Read More Like This On [penci_button link=”https://www.fashionghana.com/category/african-fashion-news/about-ghana/” icon=”fa fa-address-book” icon_position=”left” radius=”5px” size=”small” text_color=”#ecd29a” text_hover_color=”#ffffff” background=”#111111″ hover_bgcolor=”#000000″]Ghana[/penci_button] [penci_button link=”https://www.fashionghana.com/category/african-fashion-news/lookbooks/” icon=”fa fa-address-book” icon_position=”left” radius=”5px” size=”small” text_color=”#ecd29a” text_hover_color=”#ffffff” background=”#111111″ hover_bgcolor=”#000000″]Look Books[/penci_button] UPCOMING PRIORITY EVENTS!
