Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, is a Nigerian singer. She rose to prominence after she was featured on wizkid’s 2020 single “Essence,” which reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100

Last night, the Nigerian hopeful scooped her first Grammy award for the “Best Melodic Rap Performance 2023” category. The singer won the award for her vocal and writing contributions to the smash hit “Wait For U” by Future, featuring Drake and herself, making it her first Grammy award win after four nominations.

She surpassed others in the category such as DJ Khaled ft. Future & SZA (Beautiful); Jack Harlow (First Class); Kendrick Lamar ft. Blxst & Amanda Reifer (Die Hard) and Latto (Big Energy Live).

Prior to winning her award, she stepped out onto the red carpet outside of Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles in a fabulous dress where she was spotted to be socializing with various American artists.

In a number of videos, the Afrobeats songstress met Superstar Rapper Rick Ross, and were captured sharing handshakes on the red carpet.

She also took time to pose for selfies at the event with Veteran American singer-songwriter, Mary J Blige. And last but not least, American DJ and Rapper, DJ Khaled, made sure to connect with Tems on the red carpet and gave each other a warm hug. He was quick to introduce his wife to the Songstress.
