Dubai Airport confirmed that operations were “temporarily diverted” due to the adverse weather conditions, but have since resumed normal services. In an alarming update, authorities in Oman reported at least 18 fatalities resulting from the floods, with some still missing. The extreme weather event saw several states receiving nearly a year’s worth of rainfall within a single day. Unverified footage from Dubai International Airport circulated online, showing jets navigating flooded runways, creating waves in their wake. The airport released a statement explaining that inbound flights scheduled for Tuesday evening had been diverted due to the “exceptional weather event” in the UAE.
