London’s V&A Museum is gearing up to highlight 45 designers hailing from over 20 different countries on the African continent. The doors will open to the historical exhibition from the 2nd of July, displaying over 250 objects, shedding a spotlight on various fashion trends from all parts of Africa.
This will exhibition the most extensive African fashion exhibition to date. A few names that will be on display include Alphadi, Kofi Ansah, Imane Ayissi, Moshions and much more. The exhibition will also highlight textiles and photographs most of which will be displayed for the first time ever.
Alongside the exhibition will be seminars, talks, learning events, entertainment, and African cultured music performed by talented vocalists and instrumentalists. The exhibition is part of the museum’s ongoing commitment to growing its collection of work by African and African Diaspora designers, working to tell the story of the nation’s creativity, culture, and history.
