It isn’t a song about girls, nor haters, now how bad he is, nor even a track for the clubs. The reggae/dancehall artist taps into a new field in his new song ‘Too Much Chemicals’ which talks about (obviously) the extraordinary amount of chemicals in our daily lives. The song touches on various entities in which we apply chemicals in our everyday lives from transport, food and skin bleaching! Just when you thought it was only discrediting chemicals, the Ghanaian singer starts to get much deeper in his verses. Although it is rumoured the skin bleaching epidemic is losing traction, it is still at high numbers in some countries. In most cases people expect your typical skin bleacher to be the yellow skinned girl with dark patched eyes, but the truth of the matter is sometimes skin bleaching might be done from darker to dark, or dark to moderate and not always the obvious light skinned tone as in some cases. It’s good to see the embracing of Jamaica’s dancehall culture in Ghana is that of the Bounty Killer and Mr Vegas route and not the Vybz Kartel route.
