Due to the insufficiency of designers to expand their businesses in boutiques, most potential clients find it more convenient to screen shoot or save their favourite designs and simply visit their local tailors to get the design remade. This is a natural habit in Ghana which has trickled down from the fact that the majority of us already have tailors we are associated with prior to seeing the design we love. In any such case we would usually just contact the said tailor or designer and request that they emulate this design. A culture that will only be broken once we manage to find designers deep inside our boutiques of which we find one around every corner. However one designer is not having it, and she is taking the bull by the horns. Award winning Ghanaian fashion designer Bri Wireduah is now calling out clients that have gone through such process to imitate her designs using other tailors. Not only is she calling them out, but also publishing their images and showing society the difference when you get an imitation in comparison to shopping it from her. She is also encouraging various designers in Ghana to begin putting imitators on blast so other potential client can learn lessons between shopping the original and shopping the imitation, even if it means putting aside concerns of convenience and price differences.
