The 18 months programme, being run in affiliation with the University of Cape Coast, is practically inclined and includes six months internship at a fashion and textile related industry. Professor Sylvester Achio, Rector of the Polytechnic, said his goal was to raise the institution into a centre of excellence and was committed to introducing demand driven Higher National Diploma (HND) and BTECH programmes that would meet international standards. Prof. Achio said the National Accreditation Board (NAB) had recommended some amendments and hopefully the institution would start running some of those BTECH programmes by the end of the year. He said currently, aside BTECH Fashion and Textiles, the institution also run BTECH Science Laboratory Technology. The Rector said the School of Business and Management Studies had initiated steps to introduce weekend HND programmes and proficiency courses in English, French and Spanish this academic year. He said the polytechnic, in collaboration with Dow Chemical in the United States of America, was assisting to develop syllabi in the areas of Statistics and Actuarial Science, Petroleum Engineering, Advertising Technology and Accounting and Finance Studies for the consideration of the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations and NAB. He said the polytechnic was working hard to run certificate, diploma and degree programmes in Sports and Health Sciences in the next academic year.
