For the first time AfroChella fused in the aesthetic of African fashion creatives into its period of festivities, this was the Afrochella Fashion Night Out, a joint effort by Afrochella, what some consider Ghana’s biggest December event founded by Abdul Karim Abdullah, in collaboration with fashion house Debonair Afrik, founded by Nuel Bans.
The event took place on the 30th of December 2021 at the Octagon Building in Accra and was strictly by invitation. Designers showcasing on the night were Boyede, Christie Brown, Ajepomaa Gallery, Chocolate Clothes,
Unfortunately for intense followers of Ghanaian fashion, the majority of collections had previously been exhibited on prior runway shows. Also, if you were an industry participant who walked in looking for a uniformed fashion show, you might have been disappointed by the extreme 5-hour late start and a few disarrangements in the runway process, but if you were looking for a fun time out with great models, designs on the runway and networking then there could not have been any better place to be.
The late start, scheduled at 4pm and starting at 9pm, did not phase the audience as the majority of guests arrived at 10.30pm onwards and enjoyed every bit of the night.
The event hosted some of the best-dressed guests spotted at a fashion show, with TV and fashion personalities in attendance, as well as a performance by Booty Bounce, Ginger Me, and Dumebi hitmaker Rema. Official Images are yet to come but here are a few clips we captured below.
