Our industry cover features, what we will class as the queen of African fashion, Adama Ndiaye. Originally Senegalese and popularly known as Adama Paris, she was born in former Zaire Kinshassa epitomizes the multicultural stylist of the new millennium.
For those of you who don’t know Adama Paris, this is mainly because of the divide between the francophone and anglophone worlds of African fashion. Adama Paris is an icon in Senegal and the spearhead figure and organizer of Dakar Fashion Week.
Adama is also the founder and producer of many fashion events such as Dakar Fashion Week, which celebrated its 11th anniversary in June 2013, Afrika Fashion Awards, which becomes the “Trophies of the African fashion” (TMA), and also the Black Fashion Week Prague, Paris, Montreal and Salvadore de Bahia. She is also the host of a fashion show on AFRICA “7 TRENDY” on Africa 7.
To date, we do not believe there is any other lady that has made this much of an impact on the African fashion industry, and we could not wait for her to grace our glossy front cover. She like our previous industry cover figure, Beatrice Arthur, will also be granted 3 main interviews. We will find out why she banned skin bleaching models from Dakar Fashion Week, what she thinks about race and fashion abroad, Black fashion week, and just her general views on Africa’s fashion industry.
