Renowned Ghanaian fashion stylist Leo aka Da Therapizt is known for his heavy accessorized jewelry method of fashion and art styling. The self-taught creative established a name for himself over the past few years orchestrating memorable images via his makeup talents and assembling astonishing fashion looks in collaborative work with various photographers.
Working with Pixel rate, he has once again managed to bring a unique sensation to life with his latest work. The construct sees a 2022 rendition of Medieval Africa accessorized with jewelry from and beads from Jenny’s Beads Somewhat identical to that of Malian culture. The work was executed on the fabulous outstanding Ghanaian beauty Kezi, popularly known as Black Diamond, and the images have already gone viral.
Ghanaian model, Black Diamond is adorned in a black vestment accompanied by gold jewelry. The set-up mimics nothing less than an unadulterated African royalty and the model’s act did absolutely just enough to complement the concept.
The editorial brings fond memories of the power held by the African queen mother pre-independence and Kezia also reminds us that black is always beautiful, and black in a black adornment is more powerful.
The queen captioned:
“Let’s go back to our roots
The era in which queen mothers
Were not only mothers but mothers for all
The era in which we could appreciate ourselves and what we have
The era in which love and unity
Was the only language we spoke
The era in which we drank coke
Only when it was festivities
Let’s go back to our roots…
For blood is thicker than water
The future is meaningless without our roots…”

Ghana’s leading fashion event Accra Fashion Week is scheduled for 7-11 December 2022 following their 5th-year celebration last year in 2021. Accra Fashion Week is a platform for African designers that can be compared to fashion weeks across the major capitals. It aims to fill the void which sees tremendous creativity and culture across the continent with the absence of an operating fashion infrastructure.
The epic event took place at Ghana Dubai in Accra, and saw models march down the steps from the Kwame Nkrumah Monument whilst being followed by a spotlight, before circulating the central fountains. Memories of the exciting night still give chills as guests revisit the experience on youtube.
However, rest assured that 2022 is going to be even more exciting with greater performances and an upgraded designer collection. FashionGHANA.com is sure to bring you the exclusives we did on www.FashionGHANA.com/TV. All last year’s shows are available to watch on youtube. Designer’s registration is ongoing on the AccraFashionWeek.org website.
