The young male makeup artist has worked with some of the top photographers, the hottest models, and brands in the country. His great portfolio of incredible editorial makeup looks makes him undeniably one of the best.
He exclusively shares with us four tips on how to create great editorial makeup and look like a professional. If you are an up-and-coming makeup artist or looking at exploring more editorial makeup, then here you go.
“Fashion editorial makeup is makeup that is not worn on a daily basis, It is makeup that is used for fashion magazines or runways. This type of makeup has to interpret a story by the client, photographer, brand, or director creating a concept.”
Editorial works are mainly based on inspiration. And Inspiration can come from many places. My editorials mainly focus of creating art and expressing myself “I call it playing with makeup”
“For anyone to create an editorial, they first need to have the basic makeup application technique focusing mainly on producing flawless skin work.”
“Then the next thing is to decide what ideas they want to bring to life using colors. If it’s in collaboration, they should consider all ideas of collaboration from the stylist, designer, photographer etc”
“One thing also is to know what finished product they expect, and select photographers or a team based on the required output.”
But my main and forever number one tip is to always pay attention to the skin.
