The Feather Awards got underway at Midrand’s Theatre on the Track on Thursday night and the who’s who of showbiz came out in numbers to play. .
Glitz and glamour were the order of the night on the pink carpet as most media personalities and members of the LGBT community dressed to the nines while some went with rather questionable choices of outfits.
The theme for this year’s awards is “A Luta Continua”, a Portuguese phrase that means “the struggle continues”. The feather filled event is not short of color and red-carpet showers.
Two of the most provocative stars in the country stole the 2017 Feather Awards. There is skolopad who channeled Lady Gaga’s “meat dress creation” from the 2010 MTV Video Awards on the red carpet. Her see-through plastic number featured pieces of raw wors tactfully placed over her lady parts. When asked what inspired her her look this what she had to say: “I don’t eat beef, people have so much ‘beef’. I can’t stand ‘beef’. So wors is my meat of choice.”
However while others chose to hide their assets, Zodwa Wabantu had cameras flashing with her no-underwear look. She donned an emerald lace gown, with hip-high slit that left very little to the imagination. “The design was sent to me by DJ Tira. To me the green color represents female power, and since I’m nominated for Drama Queen of the Year maybe I will cause some drama tonight. But I want to win both the categories.”
The nominees did not disappoint this year, see how the stars showed off their feathers this year.
