The maiden edition of Miss Grand Ghana 2022 took place at the National Theatre last Friday, July 8, 2022. The 20-year-old postgraduate student Bossman beat 15 beautiful ladies who represented their regions respectively on the night.
Amongst others, 4 other girls left with other queen titles, set to represent Ghana at alternative countries. Winifred Esi-Sam who happened to be the 3rd runners up, was crowned Miss Aura Ghana 2022 and scheduled to compete amongst Other countries in Turkey this week.
Winifred is a renowned fashion model in Ghana, a former winner of Face of Accra Fashion Week 2022, and also a 2022 nominee for the FashionGHANA Honors & Awards show set to take place this October.
Recently, news broke that Ghana’s representative, Winifred Esi-Sam will not be able to participate in the Miss Aura International 2022.
According to Miss Grand Ghana, Winifred Esi-Sam had issues with her visa application and will not represent Ghana at this year’s Miss Aura International 2022. The organization took to Instagram to publish the following statement below.
The event will start on September 11th-26th, 2022. Winifred however is not the first Ghanaian representative to be disrespected by Turkey. Last year representative and selected Miss Aura Ghana was also rejected by the country when she applied for a visa to participate in Miss Aura International.
GHANA DESERVES BETTER
Organizers whom align with the international pageant will need to properly liaise with Miss Aura International to ensure there is a safe passage of representation for the selected nations as opposed to the visa exploitation and embarrassment young aspiring applicants are going through.
For an international pageant that serves no cash prize or nation hosting, this is a severe blow to its participants. Winifred Esi-Sam is also not the first Ghanaian representative to have her visa rejected. Ghana’s 2021 rep was also rejected by Turkey by visa from participating in the Miss Aura International competition.
Miss Aura International is an annual global beauty pageant held in Turkey that promotes.. The pageant was established in 2006 in Antalya, Turkey as Miss Kemer International. In 2019, in the contest’s 12th edition, the organizer changed and used the name of Miss Aura International. Around more than 30 girls from around the world participated every year.
