Liberian born, Ghanaian bread and Nigerian movie actor. Celebrity clothing brands have been great failures that eventually fizzle out after the press release, that when he dropped hints of his clothing line last week publishing the logo we avoided making a story out of it. The instagram picture captioned “For some years now, lots of Ghanaian celebrity have ventured into clothing line business” However, the actor took his dreams from social media to bilboard shown in the image below. Which also hit the net with this caption “After the rains, flood and more rains I finally got the billboard up. The VAN VICKER collections…the class act. A personality clothing line produced my Tetteh Plahar. In stores soon”. Othe celebrities that released brands, that aren’t trending are John Dumelo’s Jmelo, Guru’s Guru Collection, Prince David Osei, Mugeez of R2Bees, Konfidence, D Black, Obrafour, Tic Tac, Lord Kenya and Alex Boma to name a few. Nevetheless, one can not be pessimitic about the pontetial success of Van Vicker’s collection, nor the rise of the already existing celebrity brands. Sometimes, such brands are persued by other labels and designers, simply paying the celebrity a certain fee to use their name. Hence why in many cases there is a disconnect by the celebrity and the brand. But for all others, why not find an already existing brand/designer to be the face of or help succeed. As of now, it seems like Sark collection by rapper Sarkodie is the only brand that has stood the test of time as far as celebrities go.
