Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail 289 Two Batswana – Koketso Chiepe (International designer and Gaborone Fashion Week founder), and Tsholofelo Dikobe (GaTsh Fros fashion stylist and fashion columnist/ writer) – have been invited by the German federal foreign office to attend the Berlin Fashion Week. They have been invited alongside other 11 fashion multipliers, specialized journalists, and bloggers across Africa. The purpose of the visit is to introduce African designers to the German fashion industry and to promote fashion from Africa and the Diaspora, which is diverse, young, urban, and combines high-quality standards with a global orientation. It is also intended to establish a networking platform and to foster knowledge exchange between fashion designers, fashion bloggers and producers from Africa and the Diaspora. “This is really exciting to have one of our fashion stylists and bloggers recognized as far as Germany to come and be a part of this special group of influential people in Africa because bloggers too are important in this age. I look forward to networking and am really thankful to the German office. As a designer, it’s important to network on future prospects in Berlin, and possibly work on bringing Botswana designers to Berlin through our platform in Botswana,” says Koketso Chinese. Opportunities like Berlin Fashion Week are a conduit to the public; provide efficient and developed information in all fields of fashion and culture. Therefore, it’s imperative that fashion stylists and bloggers gain exposure and get acknowledged for their work in the fashion world. For me this trip will help me brand a new Botswana where modern industries will be in favor of local talent through this medium of communication – fashion. Moreover, it contains a set of ambitions and goals for transforming the fashion confidence of Botswana, hence I am honored to be recognized for my hard work in advocating for fashion, confidence-building, and encouraging a more proactive role from the youth,” says Tsholo Dikobe.
