Michael Aboya is one of Ghana’s most accomplished photographers. The young renowned self-taught photographer surpassed more than 130,000 applicants from over 193 countries when he won the Agora Awards 2019 photo contest.
His picture titled ‘Songs Of Freedom’ scooped the Best Photo of the year rewarding the young talent $25,000. The image was inspired by Bob Marley’s ‘Redemption Song’. “The day before the shoot I was listening to the song by Bob Marley and thought I could do a shoot on this to inspire others, that I could create a visual representation of what freedom feels like.”
This was an honourary title that really and truly should have been celebrated by the Ghanaian government. But as usual, it wasn’t!
However, this wasn’t the end of wins for the talented photographer. Michael Aboya has now recently been announced as one of the 2021 Adobe Lightroom Ambassadors. A major recognition that only a few top names around the world are granted with. He took to social media to state.
Today, I am really excited to announce being one of the 2021 Adobe @lightroom Ambassadors. I am grateful to @lightroom for this opportunity and for providing creators the necessary tools to help complete our visions and bring our stories to life. I will be sharing my knowledge with you, the tips and tricks of how I use the tools provided on the @lightroom platform to complete my stories, and how you can apply them to your creative process. In the end, we will all learn and create a beautiful world together.
