Ghana Celebrity Watch We now live in a world where dark skin is an instant pass for beauty appreciation no matter where you are, and this might be a simple transition and may seem as a phase for the young ones out there, but for everyone else this is a mind blowing reality that has only come to be after years and years of pushing for black pride. To say she is fairly new might be a little of a reach, but it seems she is getting slightly more accepted beyond her adopted followers and fans. Most of you may not know it, but before Nyakim and Khoudia Diop became instagram melanin stars we featured them here first, so make no mistake we know very well what we are writing about. View this post on Instagram Empty bag ? A post shared by 100% Dark CoCo (@florence_baitio) on Mar 13, 2020 at 9:07pm PDT Florence is definitely not your typical beauty. Her features are so far African there is no doubt she would have been mocked for her looks 10 years ago. In fact name all the top African beauties such as Alek Wek, Adut and more, her features are just as striking but even with a more tribal edge than a sexy appeal. This is probably the only thing that probably hasn’t turned her into a star yet like the odd Queen Nyakim and so forth. Unfortunately it seems she hasn’t gotten the usual runway model height and features, although, She made her way into the scene with a very unique approach defying lipstick rules for black girls. Using bright colours and more so across her whole big full lips, emphasizing on her dark skinned and not to far of from the black face characatour. View this post on Instagram O R A N G E ??? However In my opinion, I feel Florence was and is ahead of our times when it comes to beauty. I recall when I was a kid and we saw Alek Wek stepping out of the bath tub in Busta Rhymes video ‘Put Your Hands Where My Eye Can See’. Across my family and I, the question we all asked was, what is this girl doing in this music video and why her? Is she even beautiful? Why not a prettier face? Little did we know Alek Wek was the lady who was going to kick down the doors for all the Aduts, Nyakim’s and every single African featured model in the world. Whether she knows it or not it hits you! And I don’t think even those that are not fans see it as ugly, they are probably just not certain how to view it although at the same time she has featured in a few professional editorials where she has been more than stunning. It’s the same look we (those living in Africa) see in the eyes of people who are fresh from the village. The face of innocence and purity, this is the face of a pure African, not sexy, no temptations, no fun, just Africa. And she needs to take her spot and crown and make her impact in the world of beauty like Alek Wek once did.
