One thing you have to love about the Benin singer Angelique Kidjo, is that she rose to international success without uttering one English word in her music, not because she couldn’t speak it, but because she was so in love with her Benin roots she didn’t find a reason to.
It seems this may be the same attitude she adopts as far as her fashion style is concerned. Last year and this year’s Grammy Awards has seen the international singer accept both awards in her traditional Kaba and Slit dress.
For those who never had a chance to witness Angelique Kidjo’s rise to fame, for fashion lovers one can only describe her younger days as the African Grace Jones. So it’s exciting for us to see her continue to blossom today. Especially with her enthusiastic dance to James Brown ‘I Feel Good’ on her way to receiving her 2016 Grammy award for Best World Music Album. Don’t take our word for it. Watch it below.
Congratulations Angelique Kidjo and we wish you much more success.
