Nigeria Celebrity Watch Just one year ago, Nigerian designer Kenneth Ize was preparing to showcase his work in Paris as one of five global semifinalists in the LVMH prize. Today, he’s celebrating his first runway show in the French capital, debuting his #AW2020 collection on the opening day of Paris Fashion Week, sponsored by Lagos’ Arise Fashion Week—and he’s just one of three African designers to show in Paris this season. Held last night in Paris at the city’s Palaisde Tokyo, supermodel (and vocal African fashion advocate) Naomi surprised show-goers by walking the runway, joining Imaan hammam, Adwoa Aboah, and others to showcase Ize’s ecclesiastically-inspired range. Marked by the designer’s meticulous use of color and handwoven textiles, the collection drew from his roots this season, inspired by traditional Nigerian churchwear and tailored workwear.
