Pyjamas dresses are very trendy and luxurious, especially when served in silk or chiffon. The outfits play a great role when picking out something for your resort experiences, or high street fashion look. A hot card to pull when wanting to show more by showing less.
Unfortunately, Efya did something extremely hideous and decided to wear a pyjama dress whilst rocking her live drive-in concert that took place over the weekend on 19th September 2020 at the Untamed Empire. The event featured musical heavy hitters such as Sarkodie, MzVee, Medikal, Joey B, Omah Lay and more. For some reason her stylist thought it would be a good pick for her to swing around the stage in baggy top and pants sweating her backside to entertain a crowd yards in front of her in cars.
Pyjamas dresses serve a great deal of comfort and freedom for casual wear, we can’t be certain they will achieve that whilst moving back and forth and waving your hands in the air…like you just don’t care. But besides that, it’s the last thing you want to add on your style checklist when it comes to entertaining an audience.
As if they aren’t already tormented by the boredom of sitting in a car, confined to very limited space and unable to move without causing a fuss or disturbing other drivers to give space. Now you have to be entertained by someone that’s wearing an outfit reminiscent of your bedroom…where you could be….whilst singing slow jams.
Then again, it might be a better sight for sore eyes in comparison to one or two of her very dramatic stage looks such as that above. Efya is known for being a trendsetter. When FashionGHANA.com first splashed on the scene, she was one of the few, if not the only celebrity that was outright supporting African fashion and brands before they were popular. There is no denying she has made a good number of bad choices, but that will never take away from her fashion wins. Although she can definitely add wearing a pyjamas dress on stage to her negatives.
UPCOMING TOP EVENTS!
Ghana’s leading fashion event Accra Fashion Week is scheduled for 7-11 December 2022 following their 5th-year celebration last year in 2021. Accra Fashion Week is a platform for African designers that can be compared to fashion weeks across the major capitals. It aims to fill the void which sees tremendous creativity and culture across the continent with the absence of an operating fashion infrastructure.
The epic event took place at Ghana Dubai in Accra, and saw models march down the steps from the Kwame Nkrumah Monument whilst being followed by a spotlight, before circulating the central fountains. Memories of the exciting night still give chills as guests revisit the experience on youtube.
However, rest assured that 2022 is going to be even more exciting with greater performances and an upgraded designer collection. FashionGHANA.com is sure to bring you the exclusives we did on www.FashionGHANA.com/TV. All last year’s shows are available to watch on youtube. Designer’s registration is ongoing on the AccraFashionWeek.org website.
As we embark on another year of celebrating African culture, our theme for 2022 is “Afrofuturism.” This term was created to explore the developing intersection of cultural aesthetic, philosophy of science, and philosophy of history as it relates to the African Diaspora. During this year’s events, Afrochella will bring “Afrofuturism” to life through fashion, food, art and music. In 2019, the African Diaspora returned home to the continent for the “Year of Return.” This year, we will explore the endless possibilities of what “Afrofuturism” could look like in 2022 and beyond.
