Fixing Your Split Ends Without Cutting It-Hair Damage

Split ends is every woman’s enemy. You just can’t run from it, from natural to permed, young vibrant or old hair, you’re always at risk of experiencing the phenomenon.

“Split ends occur when the protective outer layer of the hair cuticle wears away because of external stress, such as heat styling and salon chemical services,” explains Amy Abramite, creative director and stylist at Chicago’s Maxine Salon. “Once the internal structure of the hair is exposed, it becomes weakened, dehydrated and damaged, causing split ends.”

The most effective way of treating split ends is to cut them off but if your salon appointment is not up yet, you can use home remedies to treat it. using a home remedies can reduce and control the problem

 

Here are some hair care tips to treat your split ends at home-

• Egg mask

Eggs are rich in protein and essential fatty acids that help treat split ends. Because your hair is primarily made up of protein, eggs help strengthen the hair follicles.

procedure-

Mix an egg yolk

add 2-3 drops of olive oil

1 tbsp of Honey

Work into damp hair, wait for 30 minutes and wash off with warm water. Shampoo afterwards.

 

• Use a big tooth comb after washing and conditioning your hair. Comb out all tangles of your hair before drying it out or styling it. small tooth comb puts strain on your hair so must be avoided.

 

• Hot oil treatment

Oils restores moisture and helps to control hair damage.

Heat coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil or almond oil for 20 minutes

massage into your hair and scalp, wait for 40-45 minutes and finally wash out with a no sulfate shampoo.

 

• Reduce application of heat to your hair via blow dryers, straighteners, hot irons etc.

Use leave-in conditioner

Rinse out conditioners can not do much for the hair since its been washed out after application. So using a natural based hair conditioner will add extra protection that stays on strands as you heat-style and go about your day.

 

• Opt for Air drying to prevent future split ends.
