According to the organization’s facebook page, the event was scheduled to take place between 23-25 October 2015. However, since their last post on the 5th of October, there has been total silence. Which is very unusual for a fashion week scheduled to take place in 5 days. By now we should be introducing designer runway schedules, invited guests, pre cocktail dates and more, but all this is absent. No indication of cancellations nor postponement. This was brought to our attention a week ago, when models selected for their castings apparently had not heard back from the organizers. We knew things were much worst when one of their own media partners had to contact us to query if the event is happening. What makes Ghana Fashion And Design Week even more of a mystery is the organizers are based abroad and far removed from the fashion world in Ghana. There is no direct number on their website nor social media profiles, and they do not really socialize with the various fashion entities in Ghana. So there is not even a slight hint of rumour, excuse or gossip that can explain as to what may be causing the absence of information. All the world knows is this major event has no publicity nor updates on social media, and even worst no contact except an email. Whether we are heading towards and event for 2015, or another cancellation, postponement or just a total disappearance of the event will surely be known to all of us in a weeks time.
