Zozibini was the first Black Miss Universe to win in 9 years since Leila Lopez from Angola. Yes it’s an achievement to her not as a black woman who won in 9 years, but as a woman who won period. The fact that she is a black woman to win in 9 years itself is not an achievement but an appalling reality and attribute to the Miss Universe organization and one of the reasons why we are now less prone to publish their activities.
On more positive notes, she happens to be the longest-standing queen in the history of Miss Universe due to the tragic coronavirus pandemic.
Another beautiful fact is there is not one former Miss Universe out-going dress that dazzled audience more than Zizibini’s outgoing dress. The former beauty queen stepped out in a fabulous monochrome, beaded fringed, lace dress empowered by the native South African zulu culture.
She published the outfit with a heartwarming caption “I think you can tell from my face the overwhelming emotion that came over me as I walked on that stage a final time as a reigning Miss Universe. I am reminded everyday that my journey wasn’t just mine alone. With that said I want to thank you all. Thank you for welcoming me into your hearts and walking side by side with me on this very important chapter of my life. Once again..May every child who witnessed this moment believe in the absolute power of their dreams.”….as seen below.
This stunning dress that has gone viral across the web was designed by South African fashion brand Biji – La Maison de Couture. A brand that has been by Zozi’s side prior to her win.

This dress made her outgoing reign a memorable one. Let’s face it, due to limited activities during the pandemic, and her extended reign as the event was postponed, one could almost have forgotten the former queen was of African decent. But everything was brought back to life as Africa took the center stage in the ceremony…Who won again? (joke). Anyways watch her final walk below and congrats to Mexico.
