Through a partnership with Edgars Stores Limited, Hunnar Management Agency has managed to facilitate for young Zimbabwe Designers to be professionally groomed by Edgars Stores via a development programme Hunnar designed in collaboration with Edgars to help improve Zimbabwean fashion. From 2014/2015, 12 young designers have benefitted from the programme. Success stories from this initiative include, Award winning Designers, Saneliso Mpofu, Sidumiso Tshuma, Nkululeko Ncube, Nkanyeziyethu Malunga and Zanele Dube, amongst other outstanding designers who have represented Zimbabwean fashion as vast platforms. Penelope Lacha, William Fred and Thobekile Zondo will be starting their development programme this February 2016. The 3 young designers are part of the special collections that was presented at the Intwasa Fashion Show in 2015. These collections are by young designers showcasing for the first time and also they would have been groomed for 2 months before presenting their garments at the event. “The programme has immensely benefited most of the designers to realise that fashion is a business and also it is very important to nature ones skill. We are excited that the Alumnis of the programme have participated at platforms such as Durban Fashion Fair, African Fashion Week, Harare International Festival of the Arts, South African Menswear Week and Ekurhuleni Fashion Festival, amongst many other outstanding fashion platforms” – Hunnar Agency This year, Hunnar Management Agency aims to benefit a total of 12 Zimbabwean Designers through the development programme that covers main aspects of the business of fashion. The programme exposes them to the manufacturing and industrial side of the fashion industry, giving them a vivid insight on what takes place before a garment is displayed in stores.
