Lovely designed trophies, lovely set up, and something to look forward except for one thing. Heavy rain took place on the night of Fashion Icon Awards 2015. As if the heavy rain isn’t bad enough, the recent situation where heavy rain and floods caused a petrol station to blow up in Ghana resulting in over 100 deaths is now an indication to keep inside when it pours.
Unfortunately this produced a low turn out to what was last year one of Ghana fashion industry’s biggest gathering. Despite how fabulous the attending guests were this time around, this changed the dynamics of the event by the announcement of awards being cut in half.
Those that were awarded on the night were….
Best Male Model Awards: Stephen Owusu
Best Female Model Awards: Julee Djoulde
Best Lifetime Achievement Award: Nora
Next Rated Designer: Abrantie The Gentleman
Best Contribution To Fashion Organization: FashionistaGH
Besides the shortening of the event, those in attendance did have a great time socializing, networking, and having a blast with loud music playing at the very end. When we asked the organizers if the other awards will be postponed to another ceremony, we were informed winners of the other awards ‘whom didn’t turn up’ will be announced via social media and have their trophies handed to them at a later date. One can say this was not a good year for the event.
